Delta now safe, says CP at IGP Abuja briefing

The Delta State Police Command said it rounded up 70 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists, rescued 14 victims and recovered millions of naira ransom in Isah, Ogwashi-Uku, Ughwagba community, Okpe Local Government.

Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, who was in Abuja, for Inspector General of Police (IGP) monthly briefing said: ā€œThe command clamped down on kidnappers and armed robbers terrorising the state. They were arrested in different scenes of crime.

ā€œWe have reorganised the command by establishing Tactical Team, Dragon Patrol, RRS, CP Decoy, Raiders Squad, Safe Delta, Safer Highway Patrol, Eagle-Net, Special Squad, Crack Squad, Special Anti- Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad.

ā€œWe are working to fight crime and criminality. Forty suspected hoodlums were arrested in their various hideouts in Oteri, Ughelli, Orogun-Ughelli and Eruemukoh in Ughelli North LG and Agbor in Ika South LG. They confessed to their crimes.

ā€œOperatives arrested 25 suspected cultists in Ogorode, Sapele, Issele-Azagba Okpanam Road, Asaba and Warri. The officers did well in carrying out their duties professionally. They imbibe community policing with the support of vigilance groups, hunters and other security agencies. Operatives rescued 15 victims from the kidnappersā€™ hideouts.ā€
