The Delta State Police Command has ordered the orderly room trial of two officers caught in a viral video extorting a motorist with a Point of Sale (POS) machine. The incident occurred on January 13, 2026, at ‘C’ Division, Asaba.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, described the act as embarrassing and unprofessional.

The affected officers—Inspector Augustine Jeremiah and Corporal Miracle Ehirim—are currently facing disciplinary proceedings.

Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the ban on the use of POS machines and any form of monetary demand within police formations.

He warned that extortion and abuse of office would not be tolerated and assured that the outcome of the trial would be made public.
