Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Deltans on the 35th anniversary of the creation of the state, saying its best years are ahead.
Oborevwori, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba, said the state had entered a new era of sustainable growth, development and prosperity.
Delta State was created on August 27, 1991, alongside eight other states by the military administration of former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida.
The governor described the 35th anniversary as a significant milestone in the history of the state, saying its journey over the years had been defined by resilience, unity and the collective efforts of its people.
He commended past leaders, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, private sector operators and other Deltans for their contributions to the growth and development of the state since its creation.
Oborevwori said his administration remained committed to building on the achievements of previous governments through people-oriented policies, infrastructural renewal, economic expansion and inclusive governance.
According to him, ongoing projects and other development initiatives across the state reflected his administration’s commitment to delivering dividends of democracy and creating opportunities for the people.
He urged Deltans to remain united and continue to support the government’s development agenda, assuring them that the state’s best years were ahead.
“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.
“The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” Oborevwori said.
The governor also called on Deltans at home and abroad to renew their commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in advancing the development of the state.
