Former presidential candidate Dele Momodu has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He has also officially decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Momodu communicated his resignation via a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman, Ward 4, Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State.

A copy of the letter was obtained by Daily Sun.

Momodu hinged his resignation on the hijacking of the party by anti-democratic forces.

He said, “I wish to inform you of my decision to resign from our political party, PDP, with immediate effect.

“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight.

“It is therefore honourable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“I will forever treasure the kind support you gave me at all times.”

Momodu is a strong ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who disclosed on Wednesday that he had dumped the PDP effective from Monday, July 14.
