The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has described the defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang as that of a man biting the finger that fed him.
State Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Felix Choji said it was a slap in the face of people of the state who trusted him against all odd, and a betrayal of the ideals of the party
Addressing newsmen, Choji said the governor had chosen to prioritize personal ambition over collective welfare of the people, threatening that the governor’s action won’t be taken lightly.
“The party wishes to state unequivocally that it was never consulted by the governor himself concerning this matter as being alleged in some quarters; hence, there are no justifiable reasons whatsoever that would constitutionally permit such an unpopular decision of resignation, and subsequent defection to the All Progressive Congress party (APC) without automatically vacating the seat at first instance,” he said.

Choji urged the people of Plateau State to hold Governor Mutfwang accountable for his actions, and reject his attempts to seek re-election on the platform of the new party of his choice.
He equally warned the APC, Plateau State, chapter, against accepting the governor with open arms, as they will also be complicit in the betrayal of the people.
The PDP further condemned the governor’s action, which it claimed is inconsistent with the norms of trust, integrity, and accountability for which our democracy stands.
The party urged all its teeming members, supporters, the general public to remain calm, resolute, and steadfast.
“The PDP remains strong, united, and focused to participate in all the elections scheduled to take place in due course. The PDP is ever committed to delivering good governance, and democratic dividends to the people,” he said.
