Publisher and media entrepreneur, Debby Goodnews, has opened up about a difficult chapter in her life, sharing a personal story of resilience and self-renewal despite her public success.
Goodnews, popularly known as Debby Classique, recounted her experience in a video shared on her Instagram and YouTube platforms.
The video, titled This Almost Destroyed Me, details a period she described as emotionally draining, marked by betrayal, broken trust and moments of self-doubt which, she said, nearly overwhelmed her.
Although widely recognised for her work as a reporter, publisher, actress, film producer and Chief Executive Officer of the DCEM Awards, Goodnews revealed that silent struggles and painful experiences shaped her journey.
“People see me strong today. They see me building, producing, reporting, and leading, but they don’t see the battles I fought silently,” she said.

She described the experience as transformative, noting that adversity played a key role in reshaping her perspective on life, leadership and personal strength.
“Pain is not meant to destroy you. Pain is meant to transform you. I stopped waiting for people to save me. I stood up and decided to save myself,” she added.
Goodnews, who oversees several media platforms including Debby Classique Magazine, Dee-Legend Magazine, CityMag News24, Dews Magazine and the DCEM Awards, urged individuals to prioritise self-worth, protect their peace and remain focused despite setbacks.
She ended her message on a hopeful note, saying, “Whatever tried to break you will not win. Your story is not over yet.”
The video has since generated significant engagement online, with many viewers describing it as inspiring.
