Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed shock and deep pain over the sudden death of two members of the House of Assembly same day.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the near-simultaneous demise of Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal Local Government Area, and Aminu Sa’adu, who represented Ungogo Local Government Area as a dark and heartbreaking moment in the history of the state.

The governor said the death has left the government and people of Kano in collective grief, stressing that the loss of two vibrant lawmakers within hours is a tragedy that words can hardly describe.

According to him, the deceased legislators were dedicated public servants, loyal politicians and dependable voices of their constituents, whose commitment to lawmaking and grassroots representation remained unquestionable.

Yusuf stated that Kano State has lost two sons who devoted their lives to public service, adding that their sudden departure has created a painful vacuum in the Assembly and in their respective communities.

He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the leadership and members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the people of Kano Municipal and Ungogo local government areas.

The governor prayed that Allah (SWT) forgives their shortcomings, envelopes them in His infinite mercy, admits them into Aljannatul Firdaus, and grants their families and the entire people of Kano the strength to endure the monumental loss.

Yusuf called on the people of the state to remain calm, united, and prayerful, describing the tragedy as a test of faith and collective resilience.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly,  Jibril Ismail Falgore, also expressed shock and sorrow over the death of the lawmakers.

The deceased, both of whom died on Wednesday were Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, Chairman Committee on Appropriation and Sarki Aliyu Daneji, Chairman Committee on Hajj Pilgrims.

In a statement, yesterday, by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai Falgore, described their passage as devastating and irreplaceable.

He noted that their discipline, integrity and unwavering commitment to their people will forever remain etched in the annals of the Kano State House of Assembly and in the thoughts of the people of Kano, State and beyond.

“Kano State has indeed lost two of its finest parliamentarians”. This is a loss for all of us, but the grief and sorrow are the deepest and most poignant. “From the beginning of their service, both gentlemen established a reputation for unwavering dedication to their work. They possessed vast knowledge of leadership and management, and demonstrated remarkable strategies in handling sensitive responsibilities. Their deaths, Falgore emphasized, are monumental not only to Kano State but to Nigeria as a whole.

He recalled their enormous contributions to legislative development and their strong interpersonal relationships with colleagues and constituents, stressing that their services will be greatly missed by the Assembly, Kano State, and the nation.

“It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that I, on behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, extend heartfelt condolences to their families, the Kano State Government, and the good people of Kano,” Falgore said.

“At this moment of grief, he prayed that Almighty Allah grants their families the strength and fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

“May Allah forgive the shortcomings of our departed distinguished Honourable Members and grant them eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus,” he concluded.

Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, in a condolence message issued by the Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Governor Yahaya, on behalf of his counterparts in the Northern Governors’ Forum, described the demise of the lawmakers as a significant loss to Kano State and to democratic governance in Nigeria.

He extended sympathies to Governor Yusuf, the leadership and members of the House of Assembly as well as families, colleagues and constituents of the deceased legislators.

According to him, the late Ungogo and Daneji distinguished themselves through committed public service, legislative diligence and unwavering dedication to the interests of their constituencies and the state at large.

“Their passing is not only painful to Kano State but to the broader democratic system, which has lost two devoted representatives of the people,” the NSGF Chairman noted.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant them Aljannatul Firdaus, and give their families, associates and the people of Kano State the strength to bear the loss.
