A farmer, simply identified as Sikiru, (aka Badoo), was on Tuesday evening killed on his farm by a deaf and dumb man, popularly known as Sunday Alabi,
at Ipole Farm Settlement, Agbado Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
According to sources, Alabi (deaf and dumb man) had on the fateful evening, gone to the farm of Sikiru (Deceased) to steal some farm produce, when Sikiru asked him why he had been stealing on his farm, Alabi became furious and attacked him with a sharp machete, inflicting deep cut on his neck.
The sources added that the attack almost chopped off the neck of the victim, which eventually led to his death.
They also said that while being attacked, the victim was drenched in the pool of his own blood, after which other nearby farmers who heard him when he was crying for help rushed to the scene. They captured him and later called the attention of the police.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ekiti State Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect.
According to him, ‘the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.”
