For management and members of the influential Abeokuta Sports Club 1904, Ogun State, penultimate Friday will for long remain fresh in their memories.
It was a day the club performed a three -in-one ceremony as it opened new club gate, inducted new members as well as decorated new patrons!.
The unusual event which held under the chairmanship of Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul Rasaq Adesina Adenugba was well attended by members and invited guests.
In his welcome address, President of the club, Mr. Akinwunmi Ajayi thanked God for making the day a reality.
According to him, the need to build what he described as a new befitting and ultra-modern gate was borne out of the need to rapidly develop the entry point to the club sop as the create a lasting impression of the entire club.
His words: ‘It will interest you to know that must of our facilities have deteriorated and the repairs and upgrading of these facilities through ongoing have greatly affected our other needs, mostly importantly sporting facilities within the club. We know with your support and cooperation, we shall not want’’ Ajayi said.
While congratulating those invested as vice patrons of the club, Ajayi said they were carefully chosen in view of their numerous contributions to the club in particular and Ogun State in general.
“It is our belief that this new appointment will spur and encourage them to give more to the society’’
Ajayi, who welcomed newly inducted members charged them to be always good ambassadors of the club.
He showered encomiums on the Grand Patron of the Club, Governor Ibikunle Amosun for giving an enabling environment for club members as well as his administration’s great turn-around of the state in ‘’grand style’’
