Aliko Dangote, the president of the Dangote Refinery, has unveiled the first sample of petrol, marking the start of the refinery’s operations in the Ibeju-Lekki neighbourhood of Lagos.
The test run of the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility is a major step towards addressing sub-Saharan Africa’s and Nigeria’s petroleum demands.
Dangote expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government and President Bola Tinubu for creating a conducive environment for growth and development.
He highlighted the potential of the Naira for Crude initiative to stabilise the naira.
He added that better tracking of fuel distribution will be possible thanks to the refinery’s insightful observations of Nigeria’s fuel consumption habits.
Dangote stated that the refinery will meet the needs of not only Nigerians but also the broader sub-Saharan African market.
