Dad’s Death: Ndidi blasts hit-and-run driver

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has blasted the hit-and-run driver that caused the tragic death of his father.

Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, died on Tuesday, 27 January, after being involved in a road accident in Umunede. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital in nearby Agbor, where he was later confirmed dead.

The tragic loss came barely a week after Wilfred Ndidi captained Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

As Wilfred and his siblings bade their father a final farewell during a burial rites marked by grief and solemn reflection at the weekend, the Besiktas of Turkey midfielder posted on Instagram: “Rest in peace, Dad. And the hit-and-run driver, I hope you find peace in your heart.”
