D’ Tigers back to winning ways, defeats CAF 72-59

Nigeria’s D’ Tigers got back to winning ways courtesy of a 72-59 victory over the Central Africa Republic in the final round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers played at the Palaise De Sports, Treichville on Saturday night.

The first quarter of the game saw both sides square at 14-14 but Nigeria changed gear from the second, third at 18-11, 21-15 and 19-19.

The result means the chase for the last World Cup ticket will be a two horse race between Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire as the Central African Republic bow out of the tussle for a spot in China.

In Nigeria’s opening game on Friday Les Elephants” of Cote d’Ivoire had for themselves a night to remember as they won 72-46 on a night they surpassed expectations
