The Czech embassy is partnering with the Africado Foundation to tackle digital literacy gaps and unemployment in Nigeria through technology, education and entrepreneurship.
Speaking in Abuja yesterday, Richardson Ojeka, the Africado founder, highlighted the importance of the collaboration. “The lessons learnt from the Czech Republic are invaluable. Their approach to technology education extends beyond providing digital skills; it fundamentally involves fostering innovation to address real-world challenges,” he said.
The Czech government-sponsored programme brought together young leaders from 14 African countries, exposing them to the Czech Republic’s advancements in technology and innovation. Ojeka described the experience as critical for addressing global challenges.
Africado’s Tech Clubs are already making a difference, combining hands-on activities and mentorship to equip students with digital skills.
“Our Tech Clubs have become a beacon of hope for many students. We are equipping young individuals to succeed in the digital age and contribute meaningfully to their communities,” Ojeka said.
The Czech embassy’s role in facilitating such exchanges explains its commitment to sustainable development through education and technology. By partnering with Nigerian organisations like Africado Foundation, the embassy is helping to bridge the digital divide.
Past beneficiaries of similar initiatives include notable Nigerian leaders like Kolapo Olapoju, Cynthia Mbamalu and Ibijoke Faborode, who are making significant contributions to governance and social development. This year’s participants include Flora Egiabai and Nafisa Atiku-Abubakar, who are driving change in governance and women’s empowerment.
