Customs intercepts PMS truck in Kebbi meant for Borno

The Operation Whirl Wind of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS),has intercepted a 60,000 litres  truck loaded of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Kebbi state worth about N60million which was meant to be discharged it contents in Borno State.

National Coordinator of Operation Whirl Wind, Comptroller-General of Customs,  Kola Oladeji , confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi,at the Kebbi State NCS Area Command Headquarters.

Oladeji,who was represented by the Kebbi State NCS  Comptroller Area Command, Comptroller Mahmoud Ibrahim, disclosed that the PMS truck with registration number Kano NSR 26 ZL, was meant to discharged its content in Borno State but intercepted in Kebbi state.

According to him, “I stand before you today on behalf of the National Coordinator, Operation Whirlwind — ACG of  Customs,  Kola Oladeji , to represent him in the formal handover of a truck with registration number Kano NSR 26 ZL, laden with 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), to the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

“This exercise is in continuation of the efforts of the National Coordinator since assuming office, aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration and ensuring transparency in the handling of petroleum products seized or intercepted under suspicious circumstances.

“In the same spirit, Kola Oladeji recently handed over two trucks containing about 105,000 litres of PMS to the NMDPRA in Sokoto on October 17,2025, reflecting one of the key policy thrusts of the Comptroller-General of Customs and Chairman, WCO Council, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, which emphasizes synergy and cooperation among sister agencies.

“Similarly, he conducted a press briefing and auction of over 14,000 litres of PMS in Ikeja, Lagos, on October 14,2025, and handed over a sealed petrol station in Owode, Ogun State, on 24th October 2025.

“The truck we are handing over today was suspected of diversion and was detained here at the Customs Area Command, Kebbi. Upon conclusion of the investigation, it was discovered that the product was originally meant to be discharged in Borno State”.

While accepting the handing over of the truck,the State Coordinator, Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) – Mr Ali Ajimi , Sokoto state, who represented by the Deputy Manager (M3), Mr Jamilu Adamu  assured the Customs that the Authority will sanctioned the erring Filing Station accordingly.

  He said that they are going to write the report to the NMDPRA headquarters which will thereafter take appropriate actions against the owner of the truck and the filling station.
