The Customs Area Controller of the Seme Area Command, Benedict Oramalugo, has lauded the leadership qualities of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, describing his administration as transformative and focused on operational excellence.
Oramalugo made the remarks during a visit to the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, at his Lagos residence yesterday .
He was accompanied by key officers of the Command, including: D C Olayinka Adeyemo, D C Aminu Adamu, CSC Opeyemi Afolayan, Customs Public Relations Officer CSC Isah Sulaiman, and ASC Henry Okorie.
Speaking during the visit, Oramalugo, who stated he had the approval of the CG for the engagement, emphasized the importance of Stakeholders collaboration in enhancing security across the border communities within his command’s jurisdiction.
“The CG is committed to repositioning the Nigeria Customs Service for greater efficiency and effectiveness in enforcing national laws and curbing illegal activities,” Oramalugo said.
He revealed that as part of ongoing operational upgrades, the CG had recently procured 10 new Hilux patrol vehicles for Seme Command.
Highlighting the service’s growing role in national development, Oramalugo noted that Customs continues to surpass revenue targets, contributing significantly to the Federal Government’s revenue base.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Adeniyi as CG , praising the CG’s recent election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) Council.
According to him, the international recognition underscores Adeniyi’s resourcefulness and dynamic leadership.
In his remarks, Adams welcomed the Customs delegation and pledged his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening security in the border region. He also expressed appreciation for the continued support the Service offers to the Olokun Festival Foundation during its annual cultural celebrations in Badagry.
Commenting on Adeniyi’s WCO Council election, Adams said the achievement was a testament to the CG’s remarkable leadership and international credibility. He offered prayers for Oramalugo’s success and impact in his role as the head of the Seme command.
