The Eze Ndigbo Ifako Ijaiye, Lago state, Eze Michael Ezekwobi(Oyiomanatumba Ndigbo Gbaagburugburu) has described culture as the vehicle for national orientation and development.
In a statement made available to the media, The Anambra State born Eze said most problem facing the society today, stem from cultural distortion.
” In the time past Igbo and other tribes in Nigeria had respect for culture and tradition but with advent of colonialism and westerniosation, most tribes including the Igbo began to lose their culture ethos and values. With this, come crime and corruption that has bedeviled our society till date .
“Thats why as a diasporian king, I do my utmost to ensure that Igbo language is spoken while the New Yam festival is celebrated to engrain in our children the culture heritage bestowed on us by our forefathers .
“I equally commend Ndigbo in Ifako Ijaiye for being in the forefront of promoting Igbo culture in Lagos State” he said.
