…. as Nigeria Marks Twenty Four Years of Unbroken Democracy
As the nation celebrates 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN) has in a special way commended the nations Service Chiefs for keying into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and combatting insecurity headlong, less than one year in office.
RUN, a National Civil Society Organisation (CSO) with a focus on human capital development, policy reforms and the fight against insecurity expressed optimism that the calibre of Service Chiefs appointed by Mr. President have demonstrated enough capacity to safeguard the country and put a permanent end to all forms of insecurity.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of Nigerian youths and middle-aged citizens who make up RUN during a Solidarity Rally at the Unity Fountain Abuja, the Conveners; Amb. Solomon Adodo and Chief Michael Msuaan, MON in their separate messages enjoined Nigerians to keep aside political and social differences and come together for the peace and security of the country.
Excerpts; the success recorded in the invigorated fight against terrorism and all forms of insecurity deserves commendation. The precision bombing of terrorist hideouts and the recovery of hostages and victims of kidnappings across all theatres of operation is a matter of national pride to all of us. The successes recorded by the military has been a solid base for development to thrive as no society develops beyond her security capabilities.
“Indeed the bleeding has stopped and the healing has begun and it will be unwise not to commend and support our gallant officers who have sacrificed so much including laying down their lives to bring us peace. We are immensely indebted to our Army, Air Force and Navy for the synergy and collaboration as well as the cooperation of other sister security agencies particularly the Department of State Services under the headship of Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi for providing credible intelligence to nip insecurity and terrorism in the bud”.
The youth leaders drawn from the thirty-six States were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions like ‘”thank you Mr. President for a laying a solid foundation for enduring national development through numerous strategic projects”, “Salute a Soldier today”, “it’s time for productivity, prosperity and progress as youths partner the government to make Nigeria better, “the bleeding has ceased, the healing has begun”, as they marched in solidarity with the President.
The rally ended with the youth passing a vote of confidence in the Security Chiefs and President as they called on “all Nigerians to cooperate and support security agencies with credible intelligence to enable them continue to prosecute the war against terror with precision and professionalism, adding that, security is indeed everybody’s business”.
