The Director of Exams and Records at the University of Cross River State, Dr Anderson Erika, has disclosed that the present challenges in processing students’ results are due to the migration of data to a new results portal.

He disclosed this in Calabar while shedding light on the result management process in the institution, particularly the thorny issue of delays, which has been trailed by complaints from students.

“The delays in processing results are due to the migration of over 20-year-old data, with 5 million data points, to a new portal.

“Due to its volume, the institution is presently prioritising the results of students who need to graduate, starting from the 2017/2018 to 2023 academic sessions.

“We have done so much to improve results administration; our students now have real-time access to results,” he said.

As part of the reforms, he said students now have the opportunity to make petitions and also get feedback on their results.

The changes, he said, are causing a lot of ripples, and the system is fighting back, but he assured that the institution is making progress and all issues will be addressed.

Also speaking, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Stella Maris-Okey, who represented the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, appealed for public understanding.

She stressed that the current situation is part of a broader cleanup effort by the present management team.
