From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of scholars, technocrats and other stakeholders in the Cross River North Senatorial District, under the JARILEAGUE, has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu, and Senator Jarigbe Agom for re-election.
The endorsement followed an extraordinary meeting in Calabar, where members conducted what they described as an objective assessment of the leaders’ impact on the state and nation.
Speaking at the session, the coalition’s coordinator, Professor Egaga Patrick of the University of Calabar, stated that the decision was rooted in the visible progress recorded despite prevailing economic challenges.

He specifically cited the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure projects, tax reforms, and subsidy removal as necessary steps toward repositioning the national economy.
Turning to state-level performance, the group commended Governor Bassey Otu for “deliberate innovations” in the education sector and the revival of Tinapa and the Obudu Mountain Resort.
On the legislative front, the group highlighted the scorecard of Senator Jarigbe Agom, noting that at least one project—ranging from solar-powered boreholes and road grading to healthcare facilities—is either completed or ongoing in each of the 54 wards within the senatorial district.
Further commendations came from community leader Ntufam Effenji Odey, who praised the trio’s commitment to youth development, while Professors Jacob Owan and Anthony Bullem described the endorsement as a reflection of public confidence in “purposeful leadership”.
