Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River north senatorial district, has promised to ensure speedy completion of 13.5 Kilometers road project in Ogoja community.

The Aladim/Nwanrranty road links Federal Government Science College and Ibil community in Ogoja local government area.

Senator Jarigbe gave the assurance when he led the contractor handling the road project back to the site to resume the construction work, allegedly suspended due to molestations of workers at the construction site by touts and security personnel purported sponsored by political opponents, prelude to the February 25 elections.

Senator Jarigbe, represented by his Constituency Liaison Officer, Mr Egar Mgbantul, tasked the contractor to ensure strict compliance with stipulated contractual specifications to guarantee a high-quality and durable road.

He said the road construction is in phases and so far about 11 kilometres have been completed while the present contactor would handle 1.5 kilometres while the remaining one kilometre would be handled in due course.

Jarigbe said he would continue to attract basic social infrastructures to the people, adding that the old Ogoja has been neglected for too long.

Lauding the lawmaker for attracting the project to the area, community leader in the area, Chief James Achara, said the road upon completion, would address the untold hardship being faced by commuters as well as facilitate transportation of farm produces from farm settlement to the urban markets thereby boosting economic development.

According to Achara, the community people have taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of human and material resources at the project location to wade off disruption and timely completion of the project.

“We have taken ownership of the project. Workers, equipment, and materials are secured within our territory because our youths have been fully mobilised to that effect. Nobody can disrupt the execution of this laudable project

“We appreciative the Senator’s efforts towards the economic emancipation of the people through the provision of social amenities like roads, electricity, and water which are quite needful to stimulate economic growth”

Also speaking, Mrs Felicia Abang, commended the lawmaker for always thinking about the development of his constituency.
