The Nkonib Ikot Ansa Qua Clan in Calabar Municipality local government area of Cross River State has expressed doubts over the reported disappearance of one of its subjects, Ntufam Maurice Iso.

The made this known while formally reacting to the alleged disappearance of Ntufam Iso about a month ago.

Ntufam Iso, a member of the community was recently in the news following his alleged disappearance from the community following a dispute over some portions of land.

However, reacting to the claim, the assistant secretary of the Clan Ntufam Francis Effiom expressed suspicion surrounding the disappearance of Ntufam Maurice Iso.

He emphasized that Ntufam Iso is a key figure in a land dispute with a development company.

According to him, “Iso attended a police interview on December 23rd regarding a previous incident involving the abduction of a community youth, Felix Iso Jr.

“This interview occurred two days after his reported disappearance, raising questions about his whereabouts during the alleged abduction.

“In 2023, he was involved in a court case where he was accused of obstructing a development project and detaining workers.

“The disappearance coincides with an ongoing legal battle between the community and a development company seeking to build on land claimed by Iso”, he said.

The community leadership emphasized that Iso’s disappearance remains a mystery, and they are uncertain of his current status.

They urged law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the matter.
