The Cross River State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected a former lawmaker representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Hon Chris Etta, as state chairman.
Hon Etta was elected through a consensus arrangement after over 10 hours of deliberations by stakeholders of the party.
He was subsequently affirmed by party members at the UJ Esuene Stadium before his inauguration alongside other new executives.
Speaking after his inauguration, Hon Etta said their work was cut out and that they would hit the ground running.
“Thank you for the honour given to us, for electing us to serve you and the state. Our work is already cut out.

“We will give everybody a listening ear, hit the ground running and will not disappoint you. We will also work to uphold the vision of the party and move it to the next level,” he said.
Chairman of the congress committee, Samuel Yanap, tasked the newly elected executives not to use power for self-enrichment but for the benefit of humanity.
Also speaking, the governor of the state, Senator Bassey Otu, said the election of the new executives was a great day for Cross River.
Senator Otu thanked the outgone executive. He said the new executives were “welcome to headache” because managing a party and human beings is not an easy task.
He described the new state chairman as a wonderful personality with experience, saying his administration is ready to give every support.
Other members of the 36-member state executive of the party include Lugana Lukpata, who was elected deputy state chairman, while Patrick Okon retained his position as state secretary.
