From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar

The Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has affirmed Prof. Sandy Onor as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement followed a consensus exercise across the state’s 196 wards and 18 local government areas, where 8,841 members were accredited for the exercise.

Returning officer Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong said Onor secured unanimous support from members at the ward level.

“The exercise is concluded. We affirm that Cross River PDP and over 8000 accredited members back Prof. Sandy Onor as our presidential candidate,” Archibong said.

Party secretary Joe Obi Bisong moved the motion for adoption, which Akpabuyo LGA chapter chairman Austin Okon seconded.

Venatium Ikem, the Cross River State chairman of the party, described the affirmation as a turning point for the party in the state.

He added that the party is ready for the elections and that those who underestimate them will be surprised.
