C’River lawmaker offers to assist market fire victims

The lawmaker representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Sen. Eteng Jonah Williams has offered to assist victims of fire incident in the  Ikom main market of the state.

The lawmaker made the pledge when he paid an on-the-spot assessment to ascertain the degree of damage caused by the unfortunate incident.

The fire incident which engulfed the Ikom Market led to huge losses estimated to be several millions of naira.

The federal lawmaker expressed sympathy to the traders for the loss of goods worth several millions of Naira to the inferno, however, thanked God that no life was lost in the tragedy.

“I know these are difficult times for the shop owners, which is why I came to visit myself to do the assessment, so we will see how we can support them to mitigate the losses. We will work with the leadership of the market, and relevant state and federal government agencies to put an end to the incessant fire outbreaks in the Ikom market and environs.”

Senator Williams assured traders of Lagos line in particular  and other adjoining parts of the market affected by the fire outbreak.

The Yakurr -born politician called for caution from shop owners and traders in the market and promised to always prioritize the needs of his constituents.
