From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar
special Adviser to the Cross River State Governor on Asset Management, Gilbert Agbor, has accused critics of the administration of ignorance and prejudice for attacking projects they do not understand.
Agbor spoke in Calabar while being inducted into the Board of Trustees of the Cross River Rediscovered Team. The group honoured him for contributions to transparency and prudent management of state assets.
Taking a swipe at Otu’s detractors, Agbor said many attacks were driven by resentment and preconceived bias instead of facts.
“Governor Otu’s administration is focused on service and results, not media frenzy. Across the state, roads have been constructed, communities have been illuminated, and critical projects have been completed without fanfare. This shows a government serious about improving lives,” Agbor said.
The adviser insisted Otu remains focused on “tangible results” under the ‘People First’ agenda. He cited ongoing roads, community lighting, and other infrastructure interventions visible across Cross River LGAs as proof the government was delivering.
“Completed projects were not accompanied by elaborate commissioning ceremonies because this government believes achievements should speak louder than publicity. Constructive criticism is democracy’s ingredient, but it must be informed and objective. It cannot be motivated by personal animosity or political bitterness. Many critics lack an informed understanding of government assets and programmes.”
Agbor expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the movement, describing his induction into the Board of Trustees as a call to greater responsibility and service in the collective quest to advance the development of Cross River State.
Director-General of the Cross River Rediscovered Team, Paul Ishabor, said Agbor’s induction into the Board of Trustees was informed by his integrity, wealth of experience and unwavering commitment to public service.
