From Priscilla Ediare, Ado-Ekiti
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has been immersed in crisis with the emergence of two chapter chairmen.
Drama started when the party’s state deputy chairman, Lanre Omolase, who has been acting as chairman, and the state secretary, Mrs Funmi Ogun, yesterday, announced the appointment of Alaba Agboola, as the substantive chairman of the party in the state.
In a statement, Agboola from Ijero Ekiti, replaced the party’s governorship candidate in the last election, Bisi Kolawole, who resigned as the Chairman to contest the gubernatorial election.
His appointment was explained as part of the resolutions at the State Executive Committee meeting held in Ado Ekiti, yesterday.
However, Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Raphael Adeyanju, would issue a separate statement, announcing Deji Ogunsakin as new chairman of the party in the state.
“The State Executive Committee, (SEC) of the Ekiti State Chapter of People’s Democratic Party has ratified the appointment of the former Chairman, Ado LG and former 2018 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, Deji Ogunsakin as the new state chairman of PDP. The party announced the appointment at its meeting in Ado Ekiti on Monday.”
