The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday showcased a cache of recovered weapons, suspected ritual items, and stolen property as it highlighted major operational gains in its ongoing crackdown on crime across the state.
Speaking during his maiden press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the new Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, said the exhibits on display reflected the scale and intensity of recent security operations.
Items displayed included firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles, motorcycle parts, and materials suspected to be linked to ritual activities, all recovered from various suspects arrested in different parts of the state.
The Commissioner explained that the recoveries were outcomes of intelligence-led policing and coordinated efforts by the Command Monitoring Unit and other tactical teams, which have led to the disruption of several criminal networks.

Olugbenga emphasised that the Command’s strategy focuses not only on arresting suspects but also on recovering exhibits that can aid investigation and prosecution, thereby strengthening the criminal justice process.
He further warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law, stressing that the police would sustain the momentum through improved intelligence gathering and community collaboration.
The police boss also commended residents for their continued support, noting that credible information from the public played a key role in many of the successes recorded.
He reassured citizens of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
