The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Metro & Castle, The Real Estate Company, Dr. Adekunle Abdul, has advocated government’s provision of mortgage facilities to enable citizens own houses without much stress.
Abdul was speaking during the ‘Realtors Hangout’ organised by Metro & Castle to showcase the delivery of over 55 per cent of the 500 housing units completed and awaiting delivery within the time frame. He said the company having finished programmes slated for Phase 1, is geared to move into the Phase 11. He said the remaining 300 units will be delivered in the next 2 to 3 years. This he stated is possible because the company has financial institutions aiding and facilitating their activities and operations.
According to Abdul, “The fact that housing was almost an impossibility with people, I was attracted to helping people to secure accommodation. This is why, I first embarked on affordable housing with a goal to give people roof over their head. Without money, you can still come and together, we can work out a mortgage plan suitable for your purpose. And because of my background, majority of our clients are from the diaspora. They like the Metro Homes because we keep our promises of providing them the facilities they demanded. Things like swimming pool, practice pitch, water, recreational centers, health centers and all other things that could make one leave his/her abode. One home features include, 1, 2, 3, 4 Bedroom, 1, 2, 3, 4, Bathroom, visitors toilet, dining room, living room, swimming pool, gym as well as 16/24 hours power. We can assure you of high flexible payment, high rental values, affordable with fabulous return on investment and above all, instant collection upon full payment.
“We keep improving because where we are now is 66 acres of land and we keep moving from place to place. We have continued to enjoy the partnership of our clients in the diaspora because of the confidence and trust reposed in us. We have our own power system because we have a dwarf fueling plant that uses both diesel and gas as a back up for regular electricity. The way it is programmed, you wouldn’t know whether it is a generator of NEPA.
“While fielding questions from The Sun Newspaper on the rise of housing deficits in the face of uninhabited estates dotting the landscape of our major cities, Abdul said, housing deficits will not stop except if government takes the right decision. Housing is mandatory to every human beings. It is not supposed to be a luxury but affordable to the masses,” he stated.
Speaking during the interactive session, Azzizzat Oduwole, of Sheltery Realty Co, advised those making career in the real estate to always make it a commitment to follow whatever business started with any client with a view to making a rebuy. According to her, anyone who wants to make it in the real estate must read constantly by researching to look for new things in town.
Azzizzat said, “The person must always post on line and regularly too to inform your clients of new styles in town. Be consistent and focused, do not follow the crowd but rather stand out to be noticed. When you engage your clients well, you make a whole lot of advancement in your career. You must handle your clients well else, other people will corner and take them”.
In his contribution, Mr. Uche Amogu, a Mortgage Banker said that Mortgage is an opportunity to bale one’s business. He advised operators in the real estate to always choose their deals as mortgage institutions are there to help them. “You must know your target market and always profile companies and send them pictures, “he stated.
