Court restrain 2 lawyers from derogatory publications against ex-NBA vice president, Ubani

High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),  has restrained two legal practitioners from further making derogatory publications against their senior colleague, Monday Ubani (SAN), pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice before the court.

The affected lawyers are Messrs Lilian Okenwa (Editor-in-Chief Law and Society Magazine) and Dr. Tony Jaja Clinton.

The order of Justice S.U. Bature is followed a motion ex-parte No; FCT/HC/M/16245/2025, that was moved and argued by counsel to the claimant, Nkem Okoro.

The claimant, Monday Ubani is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Vice president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

He accused the defendants of publishing as a “malicious and defamatory” publication against him with intent to  malign his reputation and mislead the public.

Justice Bature in his enroll order dated December 9, 2025, further granted an order directing the maintenance of status quo ante bellum, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

He further granted an order to serve the defendants the originating processes by conspicuously pasting, and serving at No: 17 Tunde Ogbeha Street, Durumi II, Gudu, Abuja, House 475B, Crescent, off 4th Avenue, Gwarimpa Abuja and equally sending same to their emails and Whatsapp numbers.

Meanwhile, the matter has been adjourned to December 16, 2025 for hearing of the motion on notice.
