Court remands man over alleged N82m hajj fraud

Federal High Court, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Gakko, has ordered the remand of one Aminu Hassan Zauro at the Kebbi State Police Headquarters for further investigation over an alleged N82m hajj fraud.

Zauro, facing trial in the case, FHC/ KB/CR/35/2026 before the court, was arrested following a complaint from the state Pilgrims Welfare Board.

When the case was mentioned, the defendant who was arraigned for allegedly defrauding intending pilgrims of N6 million and additional N82 million, however admitted to the charges

The prosecutor, Inspector Yusuf Garba Haruna, informed the court that the defendant was arrested after a complaint from the Pilgrim Welfare Board of about N6 million fraud, stated that another allegation of N82 million fraud was still hanging on his neck.

However, when the documents of payment transactions from his purported pilgrims were tendered in court, he admitted to the allegations and claimed that he had refunded some of the money to his victims.

The judge ordered that Zauro be remanded at the police headquarters for 21 days for further investigation on the new allegation of N82 million.

He adjourned the case till July 22, 2026 for further hearing.
