Court remands man, 25, for malicious damage of property worth N465,000

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Friday, remanded a 25-year-old man, Success Adjarho, in correctional facility for destroying property worth N465,000.

The Magistrate, Mr. Nurudeen Layeni ordered Adjarho’s remand after he pleaded guilty to a charge of malicious damage.

Layeni adjourned the case until October 8 for facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 26, at 6.20p.m at Muyanrin Ibiye area of Badagry.

Ekpo said that the defendant maliciously damaged some asbestos ceiling sheets, one DSTV dish and one Geepee water tank, property of the complainant, Mr Ikunuwaje Adeleke.

He said that the complainant reported the case to the police and the defendant was arrested.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ekpo said that the offence contravened Section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
