The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has declared that enforcers of the Monday night sit-at-home order are enemies of Igbos.
The group, condemning the order, recalled that initiators of the protest loyal to Nnamdi Kanu have suspended it.
A statement by the spokesperson of the group reads:
“Okro does not grow taller than the person that planted it, as the saying goes. These elements enforcing the Monday sit-at-home despite its cancellation should remove the hand of the human being from the soup before it turns into the hand of a Monkey.
“Criminal elements have turned the Monday sit-at-home as a day to steal and rob innocent people of their money, goods and valuables in broad daylight. Mondays are no longer safe in South East as it has turned to be a free day for criminals to unleash terror on anybody they meet or see. It is an issue of serious concern and the sure ugly incident should stop forthwith.
He continued “Businesses of our people are winding up because of low patronage. People who usually come from different states and countries to buy and do business in the zone are no longer coming to patronise our people because of fear of the Monday Sit-at-Home. Some businessmen and women who usually come from different places to do business in South East are frightened by the story they hear and thereby avoid anything to do with South East.
“We call on relevant stakeholders and Igbo leaders in the zone to wade in this matter so that some persons do not destroy what our forefathers laboured so many years to build within a twinkle of an eye. Enough said.”
