Corps members advised to shun drug abuse

NYSC members

From Tony John, Port Harcourt

Rivers  State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Moses Oleghe, has advised Corps members to help themselves and their family members by not indulging in drug abuse.

He gave this advice on Saturday when he declared closed, the three-day National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) sensitisation lecture for 2025 Batch B Stream I Corps members held at the Permanent Orientation Camp in  Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the  State.

He decried the “emotional, psychological, physical, and financial trauma and devastation” that parents, family members, and loved ones go through when their child gets ruined by doing drugs.

Continuing, Oleghe charged the Corps members to resist and flee from the attraction and fake benefits of indulging in the use of hard drugs, warning that its consequences are “grave and fatal.”

He used the opportunity to encourage the Corps members to join hands with the government, the NYSC scheme, and critical stakeholders to fight drug abuse to a “standstill” by being vanguards against drug abuse in the communities where they will serve.
