From George Onyejiuwa, Owerri
A native of Ukwugba Obiakpu Egbema, Ohaji/ Egbema council area of Imo State, Maduakolam John, has cried out for justice over the alleged gruesome murder of his twin sons by Sixtus Chinenye Odinaka and his gang members from the same community.
The distraught father also alleged that gang members of the suspect who he said was a beneficiary of amnesty granted to militants by the Governor Rochas Okorocha administration are still threatening his family.
On the bone of contention between his family and the said Sixtus, Maduakolam said Sixtus wants to be in charge of all oil wealth accruing to the community and will stop at nothing from eliminating any person who refuses to allow him control their family share of the wealth.
Maduakolam raised the alarm yesterday during a press briefing in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
He alleged that the said Sixtus and his gang members allegedly murdered one of his twin sons on February 7, 2025 and murdered the other twin on September 12 ,2025.
Maduakolam said:”On February 7,2025, Sixtus Odinaka surfaced again and murdered my twin son: Iwuchukwu Maduakolam Jacob (AKA Community). He warned me to caution my second twin son, otherwise he would use his head to drink palm wine and use money to close the case.
“The matter was reported to the Police they started looking for him, but he evaded arrest. Then, the police and a Court of Law declared him wanted and published his face in some Newspapers.
“On September 12, 2025, at about 2am, Sixtus and his gang came again, attacked my family and brutally murdered my second twin son, Ebube Maduakolam Jacob, and cut off his head, as earlier threatened. Also my Nephew, Opara Abacha, was gunned down, and his wife, Chinweudo Abacha, brutally shot but was revived after being rushed to hospitals.
“After the criminal operation, Sixtus went into hiding again. Police, through intelligence operation, reportedly located him in Cross River State , when he was about crossing into Cameroon, arrested and brought him back to Imo State “, the statement disclosed.
However, while appreciating the police for doing a good job, aimed at upholding justice, “which actually shows that nobody, no matter how rich and highly placed is above the law”, Maduakolam appealed to the police to make clearer, the current status of Sixtus, to enable him face prosecution for his criminal activities.
He also appealed to the Imo State Government and the state police Command to go after the suspect’s criminal gang, who are still operating from the bushes and terrorising Obiakpu Egbemba and its environs.
Meanwhile, when contacted for clarification, Imo state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Henry Okoye requested a text message, which was sent to him.
However, he has not responded to the text messages as at press time.
