For UK-based live-band artiste and music director, Adefala Ayodeji Joseph aka Conastone Dynasty, music is a journey that began in the church but has now evolved into a professional career.
Having discovered his passion for singing through active participation in church activities, Adefala progressed to becoming a Sunday school choir leader, laying the foundation for his illustrious career in music.
Determined to expand his skills, he taught himself how to play the keyboard. What started as an effort to improve his musical ability gradually became an important part of his identity as a musician.
Over the years, Adefala gained valuable experience performing before different audiences and adapting his music to suit various occasions.
Before relocating to the United Kingdom, the artiste featured on a church album, contributing vocals to a track titled Orun Mi Ti Si. He currently serves as Music Director at a London church, continuing his involvement in church music while pursuing his professional career.
For Adefala, a turning point came in 2016 when he performed his first wedding gig under the name Conastone. The band delivered a repertoire featuring considerably more Nigerian Afrobeats than originally planned, and the audience responded enthusiastically.
However, for him, successful live performance goes beyond playing familiar songs. “The objective is not simply to sing every song the audience knows, but to understand the purpose of the event and deliver the right repertoire at the right moment,” he said.
Between 2016 and January 2023, Conastone built an extensive performance record across Nigeria, particularly in the Southwest, appearing at weddings, birthdays, cultural events, and other major social gatherings. The band also featured at the 70th birthday celebration of Mrs. Roebuck, an American, which held in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Now based in the United Kingdom, Adefala is developing Conastone Dynasty into a professional African live-music brand with an international outlook. In February 2025, he returned to Nigeria for a special funeral performance arranged by an American client, Odogwu.
With years of live performance behind him, Adefala is now preparing for another major milestone: the release of his debut album in January 2027.
