President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, received in audience, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai.
Yu was accompanied on the visit by the Head of the Political Section, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Zhu Songbo.
Announcing the visit via his X handle, Yu said: “It’s a great honour to have an audience with H.E. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT @NGRPresident today.
“Over the past year, we have witnessed significant progress in the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, yielding substantive outcomes through practical cooperation across various fields.”
Yu further said China supports Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism, including zero tariff policy for Nigerian exports.
“We stand ready to work closely with Nigeria to implement the zero-tariff policy for Nigerian exports, enhance the alignment of our development strategies, and elevate our bilateral relations to new heights,” the Chinese envoy stated.
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, in a statement made available to Saturday Sun, said: “Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, had an audience with His Excellency, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on December 5, 2025.

“Both sides spoke highly of the development of the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and agreed to further deepen practical cooperation across various fields for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.
“Ambassador Yu noted that through the joint efforts of both sides, China-Nigeria relations have entered a “fast track.” The two countries have consistently understood and supported each other on issues concerning core interests, and China supports Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism.
“China stands ready to work closely with Nigeria to accelerate the implementation of the zero-tariff policy for Nigerian exports, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, consolidate strategic mutual trust, and elevate bilateral relations to a new height.”
Also on his social media handle, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post titled
‘Chinese Ambassador visits President Tinubu,’ said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received in audience, the Chinese Ambassador, H.E. Mr Yu Dunhai, and another official of the embassy , Mr Zhu Songbo, on Friday.”
