Community leader donates patrol vehicle for security in Enugu community

Towards beefing up security and protecting life and property of the citizens, a community leader and Information Communication Technology (IT) expert, Prof. Linus Idoko-Eze, has donated a 10-seater Toyota Sienna bus to the Neighbourhood Watch of Umushene Umuida community, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North LGA, Enugu State.

The gesture, the donor explained, is to complement the efforts of the Governor Peter Mbah administration in Enugu State, towards effective security of the entire citizens of the state.

Prof. Idoko-Eze, who is the Igwe–elect of the Adogwa -Nato Proposed autonomous community, also praised the chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Uche Ogalla, for his commitment to aggressive rural development in the area.

Prof. Eze said: “The Chairman’s open door policy has helped him to listen directly to the people’s heartbeat. He understands that it is the responsibility of leadership to create opportunities to ensure that majority of citizens can continue to hold fast to the belief that the future offers promise for them and their families”.

He said Hon. Ogalla has changed the face of Igbo-Eze North Local Government by enthroning good governance and guaranteeing massive dividends of democracy to the rural dwellers, noting that it was the chairman’s sterling performance in office, within one year and few months, that motivated him to support the administration by donating the vehicle.

Prof. Eze implored the Neighbourhood Watch to hit the ground running, stressing that security agents owe it a duty to render selfless service without compromising on security of life and property in the area.

The Chairman, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Uche Michael Ogalla, while receiving the vehicle on behalf of the vigilance group,  expressed the commitment of his administration to facilitate development of all communities within the area, especially on security of life and property.

He also vowed to ensure that traditional rulers and town union members, among other stakeholders, take special interest in security matters in the overall progress of their respective communities.

The chairman, represented by the Chief of Staff, Barr. Fidelis Odum, thanked Prof Linus Idoko Eze immensely for investing and partnering with Igbo-Eze North Local Government Council on the development of the area, especially on security management.

He noted that security of life and property of the people are on the priority list of his administration’s agenda, adding that such was the reason for the increased support for the Neighbourhood Watch in the local government, through the provision of operational vehicle, security gadgets and other logistics support by the council.

The Council boss enjoined the people of Umuida (Umuozzi Ward VII) to ensure total cooperation with members of the Neighbourhood Watch, to guarantee peace, harmony, and advancement of the community in all facets.

Former chairman of Igbo-Eze North L.G.A, Uwakwe Ezeja, noted that the Igwe-elect of the proposed Adogwa Nato Antonomous Community,  Prof Linus Idoko Eze, has been so magnanimous to the people of Umuida, adding that the community occupies a special place in his heart, hence he carries every one along in all his developmental programmes.

He said Prof. Eze has invested several millions of naira in the development of Umuida Community, in support of the government of Igbo-Eze North L.G.A, stressing that the era of relying on the government for everything has gone.

Appreciating the donor, the Commander, Neighbourhood Watch, Umuozzi Ward VII (Umuida), Mr. Ikechukwu Urama, thanked Prof Linus Idoko Eze for his valuable donation, adding that they would justify the confidence by providing robust and effective security services for the people of the area.

The presentation was witnessed by distinguished personalities, including Igwe Felix Attah, Traditional Ruler of Umuida Community; Hon. Ngozi Ezeja – Women Leader, APC Enugu North Senatorial Zone; Mr. Okechukwu Ali – Chief Security Officer (CSO), Igbo-Eze North L.G.A;  Kelvin Okechukwu Ugwoke – MD CEO, Idallas Hotel and Suites, who donated N100,000 to the Neighbourhood Watch for fueling of their vehicle, and Mr. Gozie Attah, President General, Umuida community, among others.
