… Community banishes 20-year-old boy for killing mother

The people of Ohatekwe Ukawu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have banished a 20-year-old boy for killing his mother.

The boy, Oforbuike Damian, macheted his mother to death, thereby throwing the people of the area into mourning.

The incident occurred at the weekend and the boy ran into a forest in the area after committing the crime.

He was paraded round the community by youths of the area and subsequently banished with a warning not to step his toes in the community.

The youths had mobilised to a forest in the community where he ran into and hid after committing the crime.

The councilor representing the area, Nweke Maduabuchi, who confirmed the incident, told Daily Sun that he mobilised over 200 youths who went into the forest and arrested him. He, however, said he had handed him to the police.

The boy, in a viral video during his parade and banishment by the community, said he killed his mother, Onyema Damian, for refusing to bathe him.

He also said he committed the crime because his mother refused to open a haircut salon for his brother who just graduated from apprenticeship.

“I killed my mother because she refused to bathe me and also refused to rent a shop for my brother who learned how to cut hair and is looking for money to open a barbing saloon”, he said.

Meanwhile, the body of the woman was tied to a motorcycle by the youths and taken to a morgue where it was deposited.
