Commonwealth Games 2022: Nigeria wins gold, bronze in shot put event

Nigeria continues to flourish with more medals at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Early on Saturday, Eucharia Iyiazi added to the country’s gold medals haul in F55-57 Shot put.

With 10.03m throw, Iyiazi broke the Commonwealth Games record, which is also her season’s best.

Cameroon’s Arlatte Fokoa picked silver medal with 9.38m throw, while Nigeria’s Ugochi Alam grabbed the bronze with 9.30m throw to make it to the podium.

Total medals in Para-Athletics are two gold and one bronze

Nigeria currently occupies the seventh spot on the medals log with eight gold, three silver and seven bronze medals.

Nigeria however recorded another silver medal in Wrestling Women’s 76kg with Hannah Reuben adding to Nigeria’s medal haul.

In Table Tennis Men’s Singles classes 3-5, Jack Hunter-Spivey beat Nasiru Sule with the Nigerian settling for silver.

Also, Isau Ogunkunle beat Raj Aravindan Alagar 3-0 to win another bronze Medal for Nigeria in the Men’s Singles Classes 3-5 Para Table event.
