Abia State Government has contrary to reports making the rounds that Governor Alex Otti sacked two of his Commissioners, said the affected Commissioners resigned and were not booted out of office.
Governor Otti had about two months ago, suspended the Commisioner for Health, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo from office; even as he relieved his former Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko of his appointment without adducing any reason.
The affected Commissioners were that of Science and Technology, Chima Oriaku; and Agriculture, Professor (Mrs) Monica Ironkwe.
In a terse statement, the CPS to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha said, “The following cabinet members of Abia State Government have tendered their resignation letters to the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti. They are: Mr. Chima Oriaku – Commissioner for Science and Technology; and Prof. Monica Ironkwe , Commissioner for Agriculture
“The Executive Governor thanked them for their service and sacrifice to the state and wish them well in their future endeavours.”
The statement did not however give reason for their resignation.
