Behind the laughter and very funny videos is the story of a young man driven by family love and unrelenting hard work. Chimaobi Alpha Moses, better known as Mobility Comedies, began his journey balancing education, work, and the pursuit of a passion that has now captured the hearts of many Nigerians.
“I graduated from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in 2019,” Chimaobi shares. “Before that, I spent a lot of time as a phone technician. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was necessary for survival.” Holding two commitments was challenging: “There were times I felt overwhelmed, but I kept reminding myself why I started. My late father nicknamed me Mobility, and that name means carrying forward his dreams as much as my own. The name is my way of honouring his legacy”.
The defining moment came when Mobility Comedies teamed up with the popular Skitmaker , Funnybros. “That collaboration was a game changer,” he admits. “It pushed me to new audiences and made me realize the power of partnerships in this space.”.
But success required patience: “Building engagement wasn’t instant. I had to stay consistent, improve my content quality, and connect with my audience honestly.”
Chimaobi’s creative process comes from blending fact with fiction. “I use fictional scenarios mixed with real personal experiences because that’s where comedy resonates most. It makes the jokes hit home.” These authentic stories have helped him carve out a niche.
Looking forward, he plans to explore acting. “I want to tell stories beyond social media , on television and film.
It’s the next step for me creatively.”
For those starting out, he offers this advice: “Be consistent. Collaborate with others. Focus on quality and authenticity. Never give up.”
Through hustle, heart, and homage to family, Mobility Comedies is proving that with passion and persistence, dreams can be realized.
