Combo Sports Ltd, a brand poised to quickly revolutionise Nigeria’s sports industry—from pure talent scouting to a lucrative career venture for emerging talents in all sports- has been launched.
It launched in Lagos, which featured an exciting one-day scouting football tournament with eight grassroot football teams, and had the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), President Mrs. Olabisi Joseph, Shooting Stars of Ibadan boss (3SC) Taiwo Lekan Salami, and two Super Eagles legends, Atlanta 1996 gold medalist Dosu Joseph and Victor Agali, in attendance.
Dr. Bayo-Fati Adedayo, the CEO of the company, emphasised that Combo Sports Ltd focuses on more than just developing athletes; it’s about nurturing talent, shaping minds, and building futures.
“We’re not just launching a company; we’re creating opportunities for young people to dream, develop, and explore how far their talent can take them,” he said.
“My passion for sports drove me to start this. Growing up, football was my interest, but I couldn’t pursue a professional career because I had to choose between it and education, due to my parents’ stance.”
He noted, “Many parents today are more enlightened about sports as a viable career path, understanding that one can succeed beyond just playing by engaging in other facets of sports. All these aspects represent what Combo Sports Ltd stands for.
“Combo Sports aims to impact emerging talents by providing quality education alongside training in modern techniques across disciplines such as football, basketball, volleyball, handball, sports journalism, analysis, commentary, coaching, refereeing, sports medicine, and more.
“Our focus is on grassroots development, where we can nurture talent in various sports,” she added.
Victor Agali, who also runs a football academy, shared his thoughts, saying, “The vision of Combo Sports Ltd and what they aim to achieve for sports talents is truly inspiring. It’s tough when out of a pool of 20 players, only a few reach the top, and others fall away. What is the future for those players? That’s what Combo Sports is committed to addressing.”
For the NSSF boss, who also serves as the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Continental President for Africa.
“Sports development isn’t limited to schools; community sports is equally vital. Combo Sports Ltd provides a platform not just to discover talents but also to equip them with the necessary tools to establish careers in sports or succeed within the industry.
“The sports ecosystem is now quite extensive, allowing people to make the most of the opportunities within it. Every talent requires a mentor; with Combo Sports mentorship programmes, these talents can remain focused.”
