Choosing a fragrance can involve more than deciding whether a scent smells appealing. Consumers are increasingly turning to online reviews to understand how perfumes develop, how they perform over time and whether a product matches their preferences before spending money on it.
That shift has created space for specialist digital creators such as Cologne Quest, a fragrance platform founded by Nigerian creator Gerald Chinemerem Gerald.
Cologne Quest began operating professionally in 2024, producing reviews, recommendations and fragrance-discovery content across social media. Its material focuses on the practical experience of using perfumes, including scent characteristics and performance in everyday settings.
The platform has developed a presence on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, where fragrance-related content is used to introduce consumers to different products and provide commentary on the wider perfume market.
The rise of online fragrance content has also changed the way some consumers encounter products. Instead of relying solely on advertisements, retailers or in-store testing, audiences can use reviews to compare fragrances and learn about products before deciding whether to buy them.
Cologne Quest’s activities have extended beyond reviews and recommendations. In 2026, the platform collaborated with fragrance and luxury brands including Prada, Sospiro, Giorgio Armani, Paco Rabanne, Ahmed Al Maghribi, Arabian Oud, Atralia, FAAN Perfumes, Mykonos, Montblanc and Polo.

The collaborations have placed the platform within a broader fragrance industry that includes luxury houses, specialist perfume companies and brands with strong connections to Middle Eastern fragrance traditions.
Gerald’s interest in the sector developed against a background spanning several Nigerian cities. Born in Lagos on April 23, 1996, he spent parts of his childhood in Lagos, Enugu, Kaduna and Owerri and is originally from Owerri North in Imo State.
His education included Father Cloonan Memorial Secondary School, Wayne County Community College District and Kwara State University. He later completed his studies at the University of Hertfordshire in 2024.
Gerald is now based in London, where he continues to develop Cologne Quest.
The platform’s focus on reviews and consumer-oriented discussions reflects a wider expansion of specialist content on social media, where creators have developed audiences around subjects once largely covered by traditional publications, retailers and industry advertising.
For Cologne Quest, fragrance remains the central subject, with its digital content aimed at helping audiences navigate an expanding range of products while connecting Nigerian perspectives with an international fragrance community.
