Collapse Bridge: 17 passengers die in Zamfara

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC Zamfara state Command has confirmed the dead of 17 passengers in Gummi LGA whose bus plunged into a collapsed bridge along Gwalli Road.

The statement was released to journalists in Gusau by the command public Education officer SRC Isah Aliyu who also expressed the sector commander’s CC ALIYU MAAJI deep sorrow and sadness due to the lost of lives at the scene.

The statement read that, Zamfara sector command has announced the death of 17 people mostly women in Gummi local govt along Gwalli road due to a collapse bridge.

The bridge was collapse within the week and the resident have been using sand bag for motorist to pass, the heavy load by the hummer bus carrying passengers through the weak bridge led to the loss of lives experienced at the scene.

The sector commander condoled the Government and People of Zamfara State over the incidence and advised motorist public against late travelled and overloading.

He further advices motorist to seek for information on road conditions before travelling.

The sector commander thanked all Stakeholders who rally round to rescue some passengers inside the river.
