The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has decorated the acting director, Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, with the rank of Colonel, at a brief ceremony held at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, the army chief described Anele’s promotion as a recognition of her dedication and exemplary service to the Nigerian Army. He commended her professionalism and urged the Directorate of Army Public Relations to sustain efforts aimed at projecting the image of the Nigerian Army in a credible and responsible manner.
Major General Alabi emphasized the importance of public trust in the success of military operations, noting that transparent, accountable and timely communication remained vital to strengthening citizens’ confidence in the Armed Forces. He also charged the newly decorated officer to maintain high standards of professionalism, discipline and loyalty while mentoring personnel under her command.
In her remarks, Colonel Anele expressed appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the COAS for their guidance and support, attributing her career advancement to their leadership.
The ceremony was attended by former Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman Kukasheka (rtd); Colonel Mustapha Anka (rtd); senior serving and retired officers; family members and well-wishers.
