Former Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has revealed coaching Kylian Mbappe was an easy task as the Frenchman made no demands.

He stated this in an interview with French magazine L’Equipe.

Ancelotti, who currently manages Brazil national team, spent a year with Mbappe at Real Madrid.

Speaking on his relationship with Mbappe, the Italian tactician said, “During that year, Mbappé never asked me for anything—not to take penalties, not to play, not to sit out, not to take free kicks… Nothing. He always behaved impeccably, with great humility. And he delivered a truly world-class season on a personal level, scoring 44 goals.

“I believe his second season will be even better because he’s now adapted and his teammates know him well.”

On Mbappe’s playing position, he said it was better to allow him play as a centre forward.

Ancelotti said, “In my view, Mbappé is a centre-forward. That’s where he showcases his best qualities.

“He’s quick, technical, clinical, capable of lightning-fast combinations in tight spaces. So he needs to be close to goal.

“On the wing, he’ll still have the same qualities, of course, but I think he’ll score less.

“The intensity in football has increased even more in recent seasons, and the physical demands on those who play out wide are much higher than just a few years ago.

“There’s always more effort required from wide players.

“For Mbappé, it’s therefore better to be at the tip of the attack.”
