The 1976/81 set of the Old Grammarians Society, CMS Grammar School, Lagos, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its members’ admission to the school with a reunion and fundraising for an ICT classroom.
The celebrations will begin on Thursday, October 8, with a meet-and-greet reception, followed by a visit to the school on Friday, October 9, and a sightseeing and relaxation trip to Abeokuta on Saturday, October 10.
Activities will conclude on Sunday, October 11, with a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, followed by a luncheon and fundraiser chaired by retired Supreme Court Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour.
Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations Planning Committee, Mr. Kayode Olu-Martins, said the anniversary offered members an opportunity to celebrate enduring friendships and give back to the school, founded in 1859.
“This milestone is an opportunity to celebrate the school that nurtured us and helped shape the men we have become. Beyond the reunion, we want to leave a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of students,” he said.
The set’s anniversary project is to raise funds to sponsor one classroom in the Tola Adebonojo ICT Building, an initiative of OGS Americas.
The building honours Prof. Tola Adebonojo, Grand Patron of the Old Grammarians Society in the Americas and UK/Europe.
The set said its contribution would support ICT education and strengthen the school’s preparation of students for the future.
