Former President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton, Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland, are expected to speak at the second signing ceremony of the National Peace Accord scheduled to hold in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Clinton is expected to hold separate meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, before or after the event.

A statement released in Abuja, on Sunday, by head of secretariat, National Peace Committee, Fr. Attah Barkindo, indicated that the event was aimed at committing stakeholders to accept the outcome of the elections as long as they are  announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The National Peace Committee, mindful of the importance of peaceful elections and non-violent transfer of power, has engaged various stakeholders…

“To this end, it is pleased to announce that it has invited Clinton and Scotland, ahead of the presidential election.

“Clinton and Scotland will deliver goodwill messages at the signing ceremony, which will hold at Abuja International Conference Centre, on February 13,” Bakindo said.

The Committee, however, thanked Kofi Annan Foundation for supporting the electoral process prior to 2015, and beyond, in supporting free and fair elections in Nigeria.
