Concerned experts and environmentalists have stressed the need for shift from fossil fuel to clean (renewable) energy in order to tackle the menace of climate change, which has become a global threat.
The delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria, Katharina Felgenhauer, noted that Nigeria was currently experiencing challenges from the impact of climate change resulting in flooding.
Speaking at the 10th West African Clean Energy and Environment (WACEE) Trade Fair and Conference 2022 with the theme: ‘Catalysing Sustainable Investments’ in Lagos, where stakeholders and experts proffered solutions to climate change and projections of green economy, Felgenhauer said the aim of the conference was to promote sustainable investment in energy.
He explained that WACEE was a platform for exchange of conversations between experts and beneficiaries, to produce practical and sustainable solutions.
The Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Hon. Olatunji Bello, said the conference was an eye opener.
