Clifford University, Owerrinta, Abia State has matriculated 332 students admitted into various departments, during her 8th matriculation ceremony.
The university equally used the event to honour a 400-level Law student, Miss Idaresit Umoren, for winning the best undergraduate law contest in Nigerian universities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President/Vice Chancellor of Clifford University, Professor Chimezie Omeonu, said the National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited more faculties and courses in the school.
The courses he said included nursing science, which now admits 120 students from the previous number of 50.
The VC announced that the Port Harcourt Campus of the University has taken off, while the institution has become a full ICAN registered centre.
Prof Omeonu said the objective of the school was that its new Faculty of Education would handle sandwich, weekend as well as part time programmes.
While assuring parents that their children were in the right place of study, the VC announced that parents’ advisory council has been established in the university with him as the chairman and Elder Ezebunwa Uban, as vice chairman, adding that such collaboration would mould good character in the students.
Announcing that a total of 330 students graduated in the last four convocations of the university, Prof Omeonu listed some of the challenges of the institution to include lack of a medical science laboratory complex, non-completion of Law library, non-completion of the road network, and non-completion of two hostels for male and female students, among others.
